GME News - January 2017

Glo's World

Wow - What a Fabulous December!

December is always a busy time for us thanks to lots of Christmas events and the popularity of our talented stable of entertainers, who love to get the crowd bopping, singing along and generally having a good time!

To be honest, I thought I’d seen pretty much everything but one event this December managed to surprise me. My husband and I were invited to a Christmas Carol concert at Portsmouth Cathedral, organised by local law firm Blake Morgan and “starring” their in-house staff choir “Habeus Chorus.”  Now I don’t tend to associate singing with lawyers, but this fabulous group blew my socks off!

I’d like to send a big thank you to Marlene Hill, one of our own acts, who also performed on the night.

The Show Must Go On

Last month, I told you that I was booked to perform my popular double tribute show featuring Supremely, Diana Ross and Simply, Tina Turner in Alicante Spain.  Well, I’m happy to report that the evening was a complete sell out. So much so that I could barely squeeze through the crowd to get to the stage in my big Diana Ross dress!

The only problem was that a couple of days earlier, I had picked up a nasty cold and eye infection, and so wasn’t fielding at my best. Despite that, there was no way I was going to pull out, so I was mainlining Lemsip and Strepsils to keep myself going, and they certainly did the trick. When I got on stage and felt that amazing atmosphere, everything was fine, and we all had a ball!

So, What's New?

Preferred Supplier Status

I am delighted to report that we have been selected as preferred entertainment supplier by another prestigious venue. This time it’s for SouthDowns Manor, the popular wedding venue near Petersfield and we are now their wedding entertainment supplier of choice and the only musical entertainment agency on their books!

We're Expanding!

For the second time in the same year, we’re moving into bigger premises. We’re still in the same building in Langstone Technology Park, but we’ve moved from a tiny one-person office to a much more spacious one, in preparation for taking on a new part time admin assistant.  This means we’ll be able to look after our growing client base even better. It’s all thanks to you, our fabulous clients, who choosing Gloria Miller Entertainment to source all your entertainment needs.

He's Behind You!

Another one of our amazing singers, the talented Russell Keith, has been booked to appear in Brighton’s Original Alternative Adult Pantomime for the second year running. “Sleeping Beauty & A Little Prick” runs from 1st to the 12th February 2017 in the Paganini Theatre at Te Old Ship Inn.  We caught up with Russell in the middle of rehearsals to ask about being in Panto and how it compares with his normal Michael BublĂ© and Robbie Williams tribute shows.

“This is an alternative panto for over 16s only, so the humour is a bit more adult without being crass. I was delighted to be asked back for a second year. It’s a pleasure to work with such an experienced cast including Lee Tracey, Phil Harlequeen. I have learned a huge amount and, being one of only two straight cast members, every rehearsal is an absolute hoot!"

Tickets for the show are available from the Brighton Dome Ticket Office or online.

P.S. Russell’s first single “Learning Love” is available now to download via iTunes, Amazon Music and Google Play.

That's it for this month! Please get in touch with today to discuss your entertainment for 2017 and 2018. We can cover one-off bookings or plan your entire 'What's On' diary providing star-quality entertainers. We've added some new Acts over the holiday season, so we can offer a variety of Acts for your upcoming events.
